Matthieu est né à Strasbourg le 26 septembre 1985. Très jeune, il est déjà mordu de musique, mais aussi de football. C'est en écoutant son idole Michael Jackson, notamment la chanson « Smooth Criminal », qu'il se prend de passion pour le chant et la danse. Au lycée, il privilégie l'écriture des chansons aux cours et monte un groupe appelé Mic'Unity. Matt laisse finalement tomber ses études à l'âge de 17 ans pour s'inscrire à la troisième édition de « Popstars ». Le jeune garçon gagne l'émission et forme le groupe Linkup avec les deux autres vainqueurs, Lionel et Otis. Le trio enregistre notamment un titre avec Blue. Puis Matthieu décide de se lancer en solo sous le nom de Matt Pokora, qui deviendra par la suite M. Pokora. En 2004, Il rencontre les producteurs R&B les plus branchés du moment, Kore et Skalp et enregistre en novembre son premier album éponyme, qui devient disque d'or et le single « Showbizz, the Battle » qui fait un tabac. M.Pokora est considéré dors et déjà comme le roi du R&B français, avec une musique novatrice, dansante et sensuelle, alliant ballades acoustiques et sonorités plus urbaines. Octobre 2004, son premier album au titre éponyme voit le jour. Le succès est immédiat. Celui-ci est certifié disque d'or. En 2005 paraît le DVD "Un an avec M. Pokora", qui revient sur le parcours couronné de succès du très sexy chanteur et danseur de talent. On peut aussi retrouver le beau gosse en duo avec Ciara sur "Oh".
Player, son second LP sort en 2006. Peu de temps s'est écoulé entre ses deux premiers opus. Une erreur pour certain, un enchainement logique pour d'autres. Le public suit. Le style reste le même. Le manque de surprise est peut être l'un des seuls défauts que les fans ont pu reprocher à ce second album. La même année, Ricky Martin a invité M.P pour interpréter en duo le single It's Alright. S'en suit une tournée de plus de trente dates, le Player Tour, couronnée par un concert au POPB à Paris, affichant complet. Le DVD Player Tour Live et le livre de photos Et je me souviens retraçant les moments forts de cette tournée vient couronner l'ensemble.
En 2008 et après une pause, M.P revient fort. Parti loin, très loin, aux Etats Unis pour réaliser ce dernier opus. Le nom est tout trouvé, MP3. Pour ce troisième album, il a été chercher Timbaland, le producteur US qui a façonné pour lui la quasi-totalité de ce dernier album. 12 titres sur 14 sont en anglais, un virage est amorcé dans la carrière de l'artiste. Le premier single "Dangerous", sur lequel on note la présence de Timbaland et son frère Sebastian est un hit en puissance.
